CT reconstruction from parallel and fan-beam projections by 2D discrete Radon transform

چکیده
We propose two algorithms for the reconstruction of a 2D object from its continuous projections. The first algorithm operates on parallel projection data, while the second uses the more practical model of fan-beam projections. Both algorithms are based on the discrete Radon transform, which extends the continuous Radon transform to discrete data. The discrete Radon transform and its inverse can be computed in a complexity comparable with the 2D FFT, and are shown to accurately model the continuum as the number of samples increases. Numerical results demonstrate high quality reconstructions for both parallel and fan-beam acquisition geometries.

Exact fan-beam and 4pi-acquisition cone-beam SPECT algorithms with uniform attenuation correction.
This paper presents analytical fan-beam and cone-beam reconstruction algorithms that compensate for uniform attenuation in single photon emission computed tomography. First, a fan-beam algorithm is developed by obtaining a relationship between the two-dimensional (2D) Fourier transform of parallel-beam projections and fan-beam projections. Using this relationship, 2D Fourier transforms of equiv...

In this paper, Novikov's inversion formula of the attenuated two-dimensional (2D) Radon transform is applied to the reconstruction of attenuated fan-beam projections acquired with equal detector spacing and of attenuated cone-beam projections acquired with a flat planar detector and circular trajectory. The derivation of the fan-beam algorithm is obtained by transformation from parallel-beam co...

Aims Motion or deformation of an object during the CT acquisition will produce artefacts in the reconstructions such as streaking and blurring 1 . These artefacts are the result of inconsistent information in the different projections images. This work presents a technique to transform the projections, and their projection geometry, at different time points to projections consistent with one pa...
متن کاملAn Analytical Inversion of the Nonuniformly Attenuated Radon Transform With Variable Focal-Length Fan-Beam Collimators
Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is based on the measurement of radiation emitted by a radiotracer injected into the patient. Because of photoelectric absorption and Compton scatter, the gamma photons are attenuated inside the body before arriving at the detector. A quantitative reconstruction must consider the attenuation, which is usually nonuniform. Novikov has derived an e...

We propose a novel method to reduce the noise in fan-beam computed tomography (CT) imaging. First, the inverse Radon transform is induced for a family of differential expression of projection function. Second, the diffusion partial differential equation (PDE) is generalized from image space to projection space in parallel-beam geometry. Third, the diffusion PDE is further induced from parallel-...
